Parent Review of the Graco Comtempo High Chair

Over the past few months, I have spent quite a bit of time helping one of my friends set up a nursery. After waiting for two long years, she finally brought home her new adopted son. Like many parents who are adopting, we spent quite a bit of time setting up the nursery in their small condo and making sure their new son had everything he needed in his new home. One of the main challenging we had with purchasing things for the baby was finding items that were not only inexpensive, but also practical enough for a small, two bedroom condo.

A few days before the baby came home, we discovered that the high chair given to her by one of our mutual friends was broken, leaving us having to very quickly find another high chair. While she loved my Graco Blossom Highchair, it was out of her price range. Eventually, we came across the Graco Comtempo High Chair. Not only did it have wonderful reviews on Amazon, but came in a classic Winnie the Pooh design. Since she had a Pooh nursery, I told her to go ahead and give it a try. After using it for a few weeks, here is what we both though of the Graco Comtempo High Chair.

Safety of the Graco Comtempo High Chair

One of the reason I have always loved Graco products is their high safety standards. While I have had mixed experiences with Fisher Price, I have never purchased a bad Graco product. After having helped my friend purchase this high chair, we found out that the Graco Comtempo High Chair had received top reviews from Consumer Report. Seeing this and the other great reviews on Amazon, I had a feeling she was going to be happy with this high chair.

So far, thisGraco Comtempo High Chair is a bit bulky, but sturdy, making it as stable as my Graco Blossom Highchair. With the weight of the chair and the high chair’s design, it is not easy for a child to climb out of the high chair or tip it if they accomplish getting out of the harness at an older age. Of course, you want to always supervise your child in any chair or baby item.

First off, the Graco Comtempo High Chair is one of the few high chairs that give parents options when it comes to the child harness attached to the high chair. It gives parents the option of using it as a three point harness or a five point harness, depending on the size of your baby. Since I love to be on the side of caution, I usually always use the five point option with all of my children. Having it as an option, however, is a major plus. This high chair also is very easy to adjust, requiring only one hand to adjust the high chair in one of its three reclining positions.

Before purchasing the high chair, my friend and I were concerned about the fact that some parents complained about kids being able to close the high chair on their own. Having played with the high chair and folded it up on my own, I think they were confusing the Graco Comtempo High Chair with another product. It requires pushing two buttons to close the high chair, making it a bit of a challenge to close for an adult, never mind a child.

Parent Friendly of the Graco Comtempo High Chair

After helping my friend with the new baby for the past few weeks, I have to say that the Graco Comtempo High Chair is one of the most user friendly high chairs I have used. With six height positions and three different reclining levels, it is easy to make the baby comfortable and find the right position for feeding. With how quickly babies grow, this is very important, since you don’t want to outgrow a highchair in only a matter of months.

What my friend and I both loved the most about this Graco Comtempo High Chair is that it is very easy to clean. The bonus seat pad is machine washable and it’s very easy to spot clean. Since every baby loves to find new and interesting ways to make messes, this is a major plus for any parent! As well, the large tray to this high chair is removable and dishwasher safe. While it took some maneuvering to get the tray to fit in her dishwasher, it was worth it. Since she has a very small apartment sized dishwasher, I think the tray will easily fit in a standard sized dishwasher.

User Friendly of the Graco Comtempo High Chair

For such an inexpensive high chair, you don’t really get an any more user friendly than the Graco Comtempo High Chair. I was expecting that we were going to have to assemble some parts of this high chair, but I was surprised to find that it came preassembled in the box. Getting it out of the box on our own was a bit of a challenge, but it was overall a very easy experience. My son also enjoyed that he had a new toy (the empty box) to play with while we were setting up baby items in the kitchen.

After my friend had used the high chair for a few weeks, she found that she loved that the Graco Comtempo High Chair was very easy to hide. Since her condo is a bit small, everything needs to convertible or easy to store away if they have company. The Graco Comtempo High Chair is very slim and easily fits in her coat closet when it is not in use. To save space, she also stores it with the large tray attached. Since it has very user friendly wheels, putting it away and setting it up is easy to do on her own.

She has been recommending this high chair to all of her friends due to how well it works and how inexpensive it was for her as a mother on a budget.
